Hi everyone

Just been to the beach and had a lovely few hours but on returning to the car had a parking ticket grrrr needless to say ruined the day. We were only 20 mins late and must have just got it as we returned to the car as the ticket had been issued at 15:53 and I turned the engine on it said 15:57. The charge is £60 but if paid with 7 days reduces to £25. There is an appeals procedure, has anyone ever used it?

My daughter is a minor and she went and got the ticket for us, does this mean as she is a minor she cannot enter into a contract so the fine is invalid? There was only one sign which was near the pay and display, has this been adequatly advertised do you think? There is also a question of the contract being reasonble to both parties, failure on my part to pay an extra 50p means I am fined £60. Any legal boffins out there or people who have appealed to give me some advice.

Or is it a case of stop throwing yours toys out of the pram and pay the fine.:)

Pay up in 7 days, you won't get out of it. The people employed by the council to collect parking fines are like terriers, they NEVER give up and follow you to the ends of the Earth to make you pay up. Shame they don't have people as conciencious as that working in other departments.

Pay the fine, no-one likes them, everyone thinks they are unfair but the sooner you pay it the less you have to pay.

And re the minor buying the ticket if that wasnt a contract then you wouldnt have a ticket at all and you would definitely have to pay the fine. I believe you can appeal to councils if say you did have a ticket that fell off the window and even then you probably wont get away with it.......you paid for an amount of time, you stayed longer than that...what grounds do you have for an appeal.

Sorry if i sound nasty but i recently had to pay a fine of £40 for being 10 mins over so why should some people have to pay and not others?

We were "only" 20 mins late!

Confucious say, no matter if you are 20 minutes or 2 hours late, when you are late, you are late

If you put as much energy into being on time as you have on producing excuses for why you should not pay, the question would not have arisen in the first place! :D

Hi Everyone

Have now stopped throwing toys out of the pram and will pay tommorrow.:)

Just thought I would ask about appeals as at the moment a lot of people are appealing in our local court about speeding fines (not quite the same I know) and about 60% are winning so just thought I'd ask. The worst thing is if I had just parked on the street opposite I wouldn't have had to pay for a ticket so wouldn't have been fined thats the last time I park in a car park at that particular beach. Confucious is so annoying but unfortunatley right.:o
