can anyone help me?  I have an 11 month old labrador and when we go for a walk, he drags me down the street.
I have tried a harness on his torso and a halti on his nose with no success.

Have you tried the "be a tree" method, or the "penalty yards" method? If you search this forum for 'pulling' you will find a lot of information.

Formal obedience classes with a good instructor would be very helpful.

And trying them may mean using them for several weeks consistently - IMHO most training techniques fail because they aren't used on a consistent basis :(

I took mine to obedience lessons and it worked.....not just with the pulling.
