Hi

Sorry to here about your dog this must be a very hard time for you and all the family. I don't have any personnel experience but a few years age a close friend had her Rottie bitch diagnosed with a similar condition. She had heard about research being done in the US using shark cartilage on both dogs and humans at the time she had to order it from the states direct and used it under advice with her vet (which I think is important to remember) She swares that although it didn’t cure the cancer it did slow development and according to her vet reduce the cancer. Her dog survived another year in reassembly good health.

I have not kept abreast of research done since on this therapy but it might be worth looking into.

Either way the best of luck.

Hello Trish
It might be worth trying ESSIAC, which has helped slow & even cure some cancers. You can find details if you search for it.

Hi Pod

Sorry to hear about your Beagle

I lost a bitch to lymphosarcoma - the best advice I can give I think is to love him, give him all the treats and extra attention that you can so that when that dreaded day comes you have no regrets and "wish I had done that" thoughts.

Live each day with him to the full and don't put things off till tomorrow - I often think that cancers, especially in dogs cannot be cured - the end just gets put off for a few months and the drugs and treatment can be horrible.

Awfully sorry to hear about your dear beagle - we lost two very dear dogs with cancer around Christmas., and it hurts so much to have to make the decision.

Essiac tea is reputed to help - If you get in touch with the Clouds Trust they can send some - do a Google search for it. Unfortunately some firms charge throught the nose for it, so be careful.

I do hope you and he enjoy the rest of his time.

So sorry to hear what you are going through as I have just been through something similar.
We were prescribed Synlax and Rimadyl for our boxer which had a tumour in the pelvic area.
I cannot say enough bad things about Rimadyl. We decided not to give the dog the rimadyl after reading about it on the internet.
He was diagnosed three weeks ago and died on Monday. His eating habits, his quality of life, his activeness, nothing changed.. .until the night before he died we gave him one Rimadyl.
I send out my love and best wishes to you and your family because I know at times like this you appreciate it.

I lost my border collie to a mast cell tumour which was on her leg. Susan North was one of the specialiasts at the Animal Health Trust that also treated my dog, we didn't have her insured and ended up spending over £2K on radiotherapy, operations, drugs etc. Unfortunately the cancer was always one step ahead of us, I even took her on numerous occassions to see an animal spiritual healer which if nothing else my BC quite enjoyed the relaxation of it all. :-) Once we found out that the cancer was still there after everything we had done I contacted a homeopathic vet as a last option and he prescribed some tablets, not very expensive, now although they didn't cure the cancer and the vet never said they would they did give her a good 3 months of no pain, I literally saw the tumour reduce in size but then slowly started to get bigger again but at least those last 3 months were really good, she still went for walks and was basically her normal self until a couple of days before we had her put to sleep.

I wish you all the luck in the world. It's real tough.........I know :-(

We lost our first Border Collie to cancer of the lymph system. This was 1989 and there weren't alternative therapies offered. It's a horrible disease.

I wish you the best of luck.
