Dose this sound like a split heat? My 2 year old bitch, 3rd season(others as normal) seemed to come into season 7-8 days ago displayed outward signs of normal proestrus, but no swelling of the vulva, bleeding and the attention of my stud, When I saw that she was not swelling I put her on a white sheet for a few days to observe her, and never saw any blood, I dabbed her vulva and found a small amount of straw discharge. (sorry for bieng so discript) The thing that is confusing me most is my stud, he never shows interest in a bitch in season untill it is the right time. I read that i should leave my dog and bich together, but she would be to distressed by this as he is persistant, and she is showing know sign of standing(I know its to early anyway)  Thanks.

Hi guest, I'm not quite sure I understand your description, as at one point you say your stud is showing your bitch no attention, then later you say he is being persistent.

Even if you want them to mate it is inadviseable to leave them together because you will need to know exactly when mating occurs, and supervise them to make sure that neither of them becomes injured, especially as your bitch is a maiden.
