I have a 10 week old male collie who is lovely and goes to the toilet in the garden during the day with no problems but on a night I let him out for the last time about 11pm but on going downstairs about 6am there is a terrible mess each morning as he hasusually done 2 or 3 poos all over the kitchen and not on the newspaper by the back door.I dont tell him off but put him outside and I alwys praise him for going outside so when will he be housetrained through the night.?He seems to save it all up for night time and he has his last meal about5pm so Im not feeding him at the wrong time.

I have a female border collie and she was totally house-trained within a few days by using a 'play-pen'.
We tried a cage for a couple of nights, loaned from a friend, but she hated it and cried and messed in there,so we invested in her 'den' and it's the best buy we ever had.She saw it as her own safe place to sleep and eat in and not once did she have an accident in there.

If you register there is a lot of information you can access on toilet training and it would be easier for you to get free advice from lots of experienced dog owners :)

Could well be that at 10 weeks he is not able to control his eliminations and if you want him to be clean through the night you will need to get up once or twice during the night for a few weeks until he has control.
