I was mentioning living on this big dairy farm, Carnation, owned by Nestle Corp. in the post about rolling in corpses. Then it made me remember something kind of cute that happened on the farm.

The guys who worked there had put several of those plastic, orange cones that you see marking road construction and such. Each day one or two would disappear until they were all missing. This was in a place where no one would steal them...isolated and secure. Well, one day a couple of the guys saw some coyotes playing with one and then dragging it off into the woods. They later went into the woods and retrieved all of the orange cones. This must have been a family of coyotes....young ones. I got a kick out of that.

Not quite so cute - but our local fox(es) pinch the dogs toys from the garden :( I left Tara's favourite ball out the other night - had just turned the light off and was trying to get to sleep, when I heard a familiar squeaking noise - stuck my head out of the window, just as the fox shot over the fence carrying the ball :( We have lost quite a few balls and if the balls aren't taken, the fox chews the rope off :( I do try to have a round-up each evening, but sometimes I'm not a very good Mum and forget :(

Well, that IS cute and amusing about the foxes. I never see foxes around here. I bet there are some, but never see them. I think that would be pretty neat. Maybe you will have to round up all the toys at night and put out some especially for the foxes. How cute!

Daisy, why not teach Tara to bring her toys in at night? YOu can sit on the patio with a pot of hot dogs and a large tipple for yourself while Tara tidies up and has a last play before bedtime :)
