Topic Dog Boards / Health / cut pad

My boy cut his pad on Saturday.  No limping - only noticed when we got home and saw blood on the carpet!  It appeared a clean cut, I washed it with warm salt water and applied a bandage til the  bleeding stopped which it had completely by the next morning.  The only problem is that the cut in the pad has opened up a little and you can see the flesh underneath (not bleeding).  Will this heal over, or will it need stitches.
many thanks for any advice.

It should heal up perfectly by itself. Pads are the very devil to stitch, so avoid it if you can. Saline bathing if necessary (as you're doing) is the right thing to do.
