Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Complete foods

Two of my cocker spaniels are prone to putting weight on real easily, I have always fed complete foods, the correct amounts, tried cutting it down a bit, extra walks etc. but nothing seems to work.   Can anybody recommend a good complete which doesn't make them gain weight too quickly.

I'm not worried about price, just the best quality..........I ask in pet stores then they all start baffling me with science and of course trying to sell me their own brand as it's 'as good as well known brands' :-(

Add green beens it acts as a filler :)

Or cabbage. It can make some dogs rather windy but has never affected my Labradors though.

Best wishes, John

Feed less, exercise more; if it is not working you need to do more!

I haven't used it, but I've read on here before that Burns is supposed to keep dogs on the lean side, apparently.

I feed my two Burns and they don't have a problem with weight but they don't get any tit bits except fresh veg which they love.

What food are feeding at the moment?I have also heard that Burns keeps dogs on the lean side.
How much exercise per day are your guys getting? If they are getting more calories than they can burn then they aren't getting enough exercise-if that makes any sense

They were having JWB, I sent for samples of Burns, they seemed to enjoy it, so yesterday I ordered 2 x 15kg sacks which arrived first thing this morning.......excellent service, I'll let you know how we get on with it.

They have been getting lots of exercise since the children have been home, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. :-(
