I have a 2 year old springer who is very lively and has a very healthy appetite, I am a bit worried though because he is so scrawny looking, he eats very well but it does not seem to put any fat on him.
He is on Autarky along with my other dogs, they all seem to fill out nicely, the other thing I have noticed with him is he is always scratching, and he does not have fleas.
Any ideas on this.

Assuming that you worm your dogs regularly, it sounds to me as if your dog is just burning off his food. I would not be overly worried. The scratching and weight loss may be a food allergy though. If you want to get some weight back on him try tripe and a basic terrier meal. You could also try cutting back on his exercise.

Hi Sandie, :)
I have a Springer of the same age who tends to look on the scrawny side. It's because he is constantly on the go and NEVER slows down. He's actually looking quite good at the moment because we've had to restrict his exercise for the time being (due to HD).

I have 5 springers and this one, the youngest is always on the go, he just never stops.
He will run up and down the garden all day if he is allowed.
Although he looks scrawny and you can feel his ribs he eats very well and is very happy.
I would like to see him with a bit more meat on though, he is a very small dog not the average size, his mum was very tiny, he looks and acts more like a 6 month puppy even though he is nearly 2.
