I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING A DALMATIAN BUT WOORIED ABOUT LEAVING IT LONG PERIODS OF TIME. ME AND MY PARTNER CURRENTLY WORK FULL TIME, HE WORKD 9 TO 5 AND I WORK IN SHIFTS AND COME HOME FOR AN HOUR LUNCH. THE LONGETS TIME THE DALMATIAN WILL BE LEFT WILL BE 3 HOURS, WOULD THIS BE OK????

Hi guest,  Dalmatians really like to have human company.  I can't quite work out from your post if 3 hours is the longest it would be left in a day meaning someone would be with it for 21 hours.  Or, do you mean it will be left for 3 hours, then you pop back for lunch, then it is left for several hours again?

If it is the former then this should not be a problem, it should soon adapt to this routine, I would recommend you took a bit of holiday to settle a pup into it.  If it is the latter, then I am afraid this would be far too long to leave it, especially a puppy or a dog that is not used to it.

Hope this helps

Imagine being left alone for that time yourself, no books , no telly, no company, can't use the phone and to top it all you're a baby and have just left your family - how would you feel?  Solitary confinement is a punishmaent no puppy deserves :(
