Hi,
Someone has contacted me for A Golden Retriever bitch pup, nowmy gut instict is to say no but am I being too hard?
This is a young family with 3 children under 9 yrsthat sadly lost lab recently 13 yrs.Want a GR for a change. This family already have 2 male GSD'S,3 Jack Russels 2 bitches one dog all live outsideapart from a 1yr Jack Russell bitch which hey feel is lonelyand what a GR bitch to keep company they have several acres.
I don't feel they thought about breed more interested in company for wee dognow my suggestion would be to bring one of the other dogs into house for company rather than to have GR bitch puppy.I could be completely wrong here,I would not want to see a GR or any other pup as a play thing or just for company for this other dogthete is no mention it would be inside or eventually outside and I feel the GR is being got for all the wrong reasons.what do others think just gong on info above?
Briony :-)

I must admit I would also wonder why they don't bring in one of their other dogs as company. If they are too nasty-tempered or ill-trained to come indoors, then I wouldn't want one of my pups being exposed to that ....
Just my thoughts.

Hi,
Thanks Jeangenie I have replied back suggesting perhaps to bring one of the other dogs in for company for this Jack Russell I also asked surely this young dog gets company from the other dogs and her 3 children.I think their old lab was its company not sure.
As it happens I won't be having a litter until at least next year but I do know of several I just had alarm bells.
Just wondering about other thoughts and opions.

I think they have too many dogs and kids and are too busy. They don't sound like "real" dog people. I don't know "first hand" but by your description, I get a visual image in my mind of a bunch of creatures running around with little individual attention. If it were me and my pups, my gut instinct as well as my cortex would be saying "NO, NO, NO." Good luck.
