hi 3 people have now phoned me and said after seeing dudley at shows they woundered when he would be up for stud . i have alays said when he is 4 because thats what i have been told . he is now one and thinking that if they have seen him at shows they must know his age with his classes please can any give me any idea ?
he is a boxer i dont know if different breeds have different ages ranges

There isn't a simple answer to your question. Age is not the only criteria you need to take into account, in fact I would say that 4 years old is too old to start out on a stud career, unless you are very experienced in handling matings.

Have you organised all the health tests needed for Boxers? Are the results better than average? Is Dudley an exeptional specimen, winning well at Championship show level? Are the people asking to use him well known successful breeders? Are you prepared for a possible change in Dudley's tempament after he has been used at stud.

There's lots to consider isn't there.

thank you i dont wont to use him yet because he hasent done any champ shows yet i just wanted some badsic advice thank

Hi, The book of the bitch suggests using the dog any time from ten to twelve months onwards, it also says you should encourage sexual play :rolleyes: and ensure dog is well socialised! It's well worth a read :)
