Hey all,
           Does anyone know a dog show (appart from crufts) where they have a discover dogs, or something similar. I need to be able to stroke the dogs and talk to different breeder this is cause i wanted a papillon and i have been told that they are really hard to get hold of, so before i commit myself to waiting for two years i want to make sure that they are deffernatly the dogs for me.

I would suggest you contact the breed club...they may be able to put you in contact with someone with whom you can visit and chat about them

At any shows most exhibitors are happy for people to talk to them about their dogs, and to get to know them (just don't ask when they are getting ready to go into the ring!). Or contact a breeder and ask if you can visit and meet their adults - I've had several people come round to see if the adults are the sort of dog they like.

   It is The Welsh Kennel Club show at Builth Wells ( think I have spelt that correctly) the weekend after next, toy group is on the Friday. Darlington Champ Show , toy group Sunday 19th Sept. Champ Show at Doncaster toys Sunday 17th Oct. Also Discover Dogs at Earls Court in November.

im really hoping to be able to decide this time as i went to a different show and i had a good talk to a papillon breeder and got to know the breed a bit better but then i went for a walk round... big mistake!!! as it started me off saying 'oh look at this one' and 'i would love to have one of these'. But trust me to like every breed that is really hard to get hold of :rolleyes: Anyway what dog (based on looks) would you have if you could pick anything?

Your best bet might be a Breed Club Champ show, usually people have a little more time than at a general Ch show, there may be welfare/rescue etc with stands, and people willing to talk without rushing off to the ring.  HOweve,r cant be more helpful than that, as I dont know the dates of any - try a google/search for the breed clubs, if they have web sites they will show dates.
