Have any of you bought an ac unit or a humidifier? If so are you pleased with it? What make did you buy? Is it noisy to run? With these hotter nights we have resorted to fans around the house but they just seem to move the hot air around,not really cool the place much and I have to wear earplugs to sleep,because of the noise they make :D
We went to look at different makes and types today but totally confused ourselves so I told hubby I would post on here as I'm sure someone will have the answer!

We have an airconditioning unit/fan can be used for either, the air conditioner is good, but you have to find somewhere to put the vent pipe out, ie. open window/door which is a bit  of a pain, but when used on 'fan mode' it's excellent, the cool air comes out of the grills on the front and the pipe on the back, so we put the pipe through the serving hatch into the kitchen and the unit in our dining room.......so cooling two rooms at the same time! It's quite  powerful in fan mode, so it does give out cool air, much better than these desk top fan.  We bought it from B&Q £119 and it costs around 8p an hour to run.

I don't notice the noise much through the day, but I think I would at night time if it was in my bedroom!
