I have afantastic two year olf rotti male, with only one problem that I just cannot solve. He is constantly marking his territory in the house.
He is an extremely sociable animal, very rarely left on his own, in fact he spend all day at work with me being fussed by lots of people. So I cannot say that this is atttention seeking or frustration at being left on his own. He is house trained, but still this problem.
Any suggestion, and quickly please - my husband is threatning to have him re-homed by the breader if it is not solved fast.

How are you cleaning up after him? If you are using a cleaning agent such as Ajax liquid (the ones which turn white in water) then you must realise that they contain ammonia, which is very similar in its chemistry to urine - which means the dog feels the need to remark the area. To clean away totally, absorb as much liquid as you can, then wipe the area with a hot solution of biological washing powder. Dry, and wipe over with white spirit. Test on an area that's inconspicuous ofcourse. This will break down the fatty acids that hold the smell ;)
