Hi, my 16 month old terrier bitch has been house trained for several months now (we got her as a 7month old) she had problems, I think she was shouted at allot, maybe even hit, as she used to tiddle whenever we looked or talked to her! We managed to overcome this and she was fine, but now I have got a new puppy & she keeps weeing in the house (not little tiddles like before, but massive pees) I know she is doing it on purpose because she does it straight after she has been out on a long walk or when she has come in from the garden! I can't tell her off as she is a nervous dog! why is she doing this?? & what can I do?? please help me!

It could be that she hears you praise your pup and she thinks I'll have some of that, she is still not much more than a pup herself, so when she does pee outside lots of praise and unless you see her going inside, when you should put her outside, and praise the completion of the act. IMO it would be unhelpful to correct the indoor peeing at all apart from catching hold and taking her outside. Revert to the same training as you would with a pup, outside at frequent intervals and you go with her, then lots of praise when she gets it right.

You could also check she is not either ill or coming into season. Do not think that is the problem as this can happen when you have two pups close together.

Your bitch is NOT doing it on purpose - dogs just don't think like that.

Go right back to the beginning with her as you are doing with your new pup, ignore when indoors and just clean it up and praise madly when outside.
