Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / breeder changed price

I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. The problem is I have left a deposit on a puppy, and since being told the original price the breeder is now advertising the pups at a much higher price without yet telling me the price has increased. I just need to know where I stand in relation to getting my deposit back as I think they will probably not stand by our original agreed price, and it isn't me who has basically "broken the contract". Thanks

If you have already left a deposit then both you and the breeder have entred into a contact to purchase - therefore she cannot change the price (legaly)

It could be guest that the breeder has no intention of changing the price agreed with you, and I take it you have a receipt for the deposit which will give details of the pup and it's agreed price along with the deposit left. If the breeder does try to increase the price then you have the right to demand the pup at the original price or back out of the agreement.

Yes, if you have WRITTEN proof of the original price, and the amount you paid as a deposit, then the price cannot be changed.  No written proof, no proof of what she said, no case to answer.

Unless you have the original advert, if that is how you found the pup, and the dated receipt of your deposit. Otherwise as Dawn has said it will be your word against that of the breeder.

I would get in touch with the breeder asap and clarify the situation - you may be worrying over nothing, but if the price has gone up surely it would be better to sort it out sooner rather than later? I would have thought that if you had agreed a price that should stand - if not you have to ask yourself what sort of a person the breeder is and if you really want a pup from someone who would break their word?
Hope all ends well :)

The same thing happened when i was buying candy but i just rang the breeder and asked her if she was gonna charge me a higher price than the one we agreed and she said no!!I bet your breeder will do the same, they cant ask you for an amount then up the price and expect you to pay it!!
