my dog de bordeaux pup is now 10 weeks and she was fine on pedigree complete dry. She has now decided that she will not eat it anymore, she takes a few pieces and leaves the rest. She has been to the vets twice and had tablets, the vet says her stomach feels bloated all the time, does anybody know if puppies can get bloat, she has been throwing up. But she does not seem ill apart from throwing up and refusing to eat.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what it could be and what i could try feeding her to make her eat?

She cries alot for no reason as well what could this be?

Is this the pup that was very underweight by most peoples expereince?  I would be looking at whether she has a problem with her digestion/absorption.  Correct me if I am wrong.  How much did she weigh at the Vets, maybe she just isn't hungry, or you are feedignf too much if she is being sick?????

Have you tried a dairy and gluten free diet? she could have an allergy you dont know about. Will she eat chicken? if so feed this for a little while mixed with a little rice then wean her on a suitable food. sorry if you have tried this but please dont chop and change foods it will take time for her stomach to settle hopefully the chicken will help this process.

I would also add yohurt or a probiotic powder to her food,to help with gas etc. Another great product you can try is tree barks powder, you can order from dorwest herbs  www.dorwest.com

I would get her off of pedigree,it really isnt a good food, either start feeding the chicken and rice as has already been suggested, until her tum settles or switch her onto a super premium food NOT a supermarket brand!

good luck

I would change vets if i were you! Your vet should have found the problem and treated it by now, instead of sending you home with expensive dog food!
It is always best to get a second opinion. My little shih-tzu weighs more than your dog!

Either make an appointment with a new vet or go back to your own vet and tell him you arent going to leave until he finds out whats wrong with your dog,one of the first things he should have done was test your dogs poop for parasites, guardia etc.

This is a very important stage in your dogs life, any mistakes or prolonged illness now will be paid for ten fold in the future.

good luck

Nadgirl.

My puppy had terrible squirts and we took her to the vet and apparently she had picked up a parasite in her stomach, she is now eating burns with chicken and has a probiotic in her food as well as having a two week course of antibiotics.
The vet informed me that the parasite she has is very rare and difficult to spot as the symptoms come and go. Maybe you should get a few poo samples and have your vet examine them as it could be something like this??

i must add that the runs have cleared up although she still has 10 days more of the antibiotic to take.

The litter of Bordeaux that I had ,had an average weight of 7.3kg at 8 weeks, when they were at the vet on Friday for there final vet check, and we got them all weighed. I would get a second opinion from another vet, have you still got her on 4 meals a day, Do you give her a teaspoon of natural yogurt on her food once a day this may help her digestion, you could try cracking a free range egg on the top of her food this may encourage her to eat. I think last time we spoke she had tummy upset. I would definately try a different diet, have you thought about BARF feeding, with tripe, chicken wings, the smell may attract her to her meals, Is she happy and playfull, do's she look health,I think you said your mum had a puppy from the same breeding, is her puppy on the same food, as you said that her puppy had a great deal of difference in weight. Did you contact your breeder for her opinion, were the pups an even size when you picked them up from the breeder or was she smaller then.

When you picked her up from the breeder was the mum small, as there are a few smaller bordeaux about, but I would get her check out by another vet, is she wormed about every 2 weeks
