Hi
I've been having a look at some of the messages and yes this is yet another problem with an aggressive border collie. she makes walking her very stressful as you never know when she gonna turn, sometimes she ignores other dogs, but sometimes she'll go just go for them no matter what. she's ran the stretch of the field for an attack before now!! she went to obediance classes but with no avail!! my problem now is that my brother in law now has a dog (black lab: 8 mth) which we would love to be able to go walking with, but she detests it. we've tried introducing them numerous time in different locations but lets just say there no blooming relationship the lab is very interested but the collie is clearly not. we were all hoping to go away on a walking holiday but it would be to stressful with this behaviour, any ideas??

Hi, I'm not an experienced trainer by any means, but does anyone on the board think that "clicker training" might help this dog? I suggest in the meantime that you keep her on a lead at all times, if she does attack another dogand/or their handler - maybe biting the handler by mistake - you could be in for an expensive court case. good luck, hope someone else can help you more, it must be very worrying

there was a similar problem with a collie at our training class, they run a special class for problem dogs (no I wasn't in it) but whenever the bitch went for another dog the slammed a metal tray on the floor, the bitch like most collies is sensitive to noise, once she got the idea they progressed onto training discs which she would throw to the floor if she went for any dogs, after 2 weeks of this she now only has to show her the discs and she ignores the dogs. The statement "don't even think about it" now is all that is needed. Try and get someone to help you with this problem because it will only get worse.
