Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my HV to hold her tail correctly while moving, ie horizontally as the standard states? Sometimes she does and looks great but other times, often when exicted or just been to the toilet, she holds it quite high up. She will hold it out in a freestand(most of the time) and also when her back is wet but it seems when she moves it goes up, could this have anything to do with the fact that she is the leader of the two we have? If so would she stop doing it at a show where she was a bit nervous or apprehensive?
Hope someone can help

Enjoy your dog for what she is; some HPRs do have gay tails; part of this is temperament and part can be heriditary and part can be the actual physical tail set.
There have been some extremely famous and successful stud dogs and bitches who had very gay tails...........................!
Better this than having it clamped to her backside!
I did wonder because I saw a pic in DW of a very successful GWP, a Kimmax I think, that was holding its tail up, don't know whether thats satndard for them but it obviously doesn't affect it in the judges' eyes anyway. I wouldn't say her tail is high set, Kayla has a higher set tail and she never does this but the end of her tail does shoot up at the end but it does look cute! She would only ever have it clamped down if she was soaked through and miserable, I know alot of juding of gundogs still carries on outside even though it might be monsoon season!!
I'll just say at least it shows she's happy if anyone has anything bad to say about it!!
