I like Jaguar or Roseline.

I think it's just personal preference.  I had a single edged pair, but prefer the double edged ones - got them at Crufts (not cheap if I remember rightly!) - also I don't like them too long - the bladed bit is probably about 2 1/2 inches long and they're perfect for my dog.  The mark on them is 'Fisher' Solingen Germany.  I really only use them to trim my dog's ears (and behind them), and the pasterns.

The single edged ones cut more.  I use the Roseline ones.  In my experience the more expensive ones give a better finish than the cheap ones.

A lot depends on what you are thinning, and what standard you hope to achieve.  We get our thinners in the USA, they are about half the price of the ones available in the UK, and superb quality, my first pair were bought 9 years ago, and whilst they have been downgraded to general grooming room use now, rather than in my show kit, they are still going strong, and have never been sharpened.  You can get them online, PM me is you want the address.

Gwen I saw a few ones that looked not bad on e-bay recently , it is a grooming supplier selling them. If you get a min see if you have heard of any of the makes. :-)

I like to keep my good ones for my own dogs and my grooming kit but like cheaper ones I can throw away for other peoples dogs.
