Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Whippet seasons?
- By Guest [gb] Date 17.07.04 13:29 UTC
I have a lovely whippet whom is 13 months old, I have not seen a season and was wondering when her first one would be, This is my first whippet and I am unfamiliar with the breed, I have always owned terriers who have seasons at around 6-8 months old, Is this normal for a whippet? or should I take her to my vet to get her checked out? She sleeps on my bed and I have a white duvet cover so if she had a season I would have noticed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having had whippets for many years the only certainty for regularity of seasons is that they are irregular.
1st season can be as earlyas 6 months - Years ago litters were whelped to bitches still under 12 months when th pups were born. But there are also occasions where the bitch can be 2 or more before her 1st season. The time between seasons can vary tremendously from 6 months to over 18 months. So dont worry.
