I have a labrador pup, he is 8 months old and golden in colour, I would like to find out about him being a stud dog, could someone please advise me on this.  I also would like this to be local to the Great Yarmouth or surrounding areas.   Look forward to someone advising me.

Oh Dear :D :D :D You will have to forgive me laughing but I'm afraid you are going to get a lot of stick about calling your Labrador "Golden" and I must say in these circumstances it is very disturbing that you do not know the correct term.  I would recommend that you find out a lot more about your breed before coming back and asking about breeding :).

Hi Guest :) Once your pup is older and is an excellent example of his breed and you have had ALL relevant health tests done on him , then bitch owners should approach you rather than the other way around :)

Are you a member of a breed club at all? They would probably be the best people to advise you :)

& also ask your breeder for advice as they should know what bitch lines will be suitable for your dog to be used on

Hi guest. Before you even think about using him at stud he will have needed to have his hips x-rayed and scored under KC/BVA scheme (which is done after the dog is 12 months old), and pass the various tests for hereditary eye disease (after all, you don't want to find yourself in court because his puppies had health problems that could have been avoided). I suggest you buy a few good books about labradors, and carefully study the Breed Standard to find out what are his good points and his faults (no dog, even the top winner, is perfect, although we all like to think they are!). It appears from the wording of your post that you are a newcomer to labradors ...

Good luck.
