I'm really mad - I have just taken Bramble out for a walk (Tara is still poorly and wouldn't come :( ) amd found a stray. This is a young, black lab bitch that I know, on at least two other occassions, has been found by my neighbours straying. The owners live somewhere at the other end of my road (very long) and the last time she was found, she had got out before work (in season) and the owners just went to work and didn't bother finding her :( I can't let her in the house as Tara isn't well, so she has the run of the garden and my back porch. I've left a message with the dog-warden and hope that they will get back to me - but I've probably got her until the owners get home from work. Unfortunately, neither of my neighbours took the owner's details when she was collected before. She only has a collar on, no tag - and my neighbour took her to the vet's last time and she wasn't chipped :(

Dog has been collected - I was too much of a coward to have a go at the really nice woman that turned up :( I did point out that she had no ID tag and that friends had found her before. The woman did say that she is going to be spayed soon and will have her micro-chipped then

It's not so easy to rant off when someone seems really nice is it??   Let's hope they spay her soon!

I'd have said that in the meantime I suggest they take more care in keeping her in!!

I'd suggest that if it happens again, you take her to the police station - if they have to pay to re-claim her, they may try a bit harder to keep her in :D

I would of suggested taking her to the police station but it has been known for owners not to collect.. :(

I will if I get her again :( Knowing that the owners are local and she is obviously otherwise well looked after, it was difficult. Unfortunately, our local council is without a dog-warden at the moment, so they were going to send the pest control officer round if she wasn't collected :D

Mabe the dogs an escape artist lol . the police hand dogs over to the dog warden who then puts the dogs in the pounds alot of pounds have a pts policy after 5/7 days so it really is hard to know what to do when you find a lovely dog .You can hand the dog over saying you will take it if no home can be found then take it to a rescue center and exsplain what happened that way you can save it from its death.
