I need some advice.

I have a 13 month old dog & due to certain reasons I have bought a 8 week old bitch.

Hopefully the novelty of the pup will wear off for the older dog in a few weeks but I am having trouble getting them back to sleep after letting them out for a wee at 5am.

She's crying for me and he's crying for her and I am crying for sleep!!!!!

When I got my first dog he was already 6 months old so I never had any of this and the pup is now asleep on my lap with him asleep on the floor.

Should I let them both out earlier or separate them both, as they both have cages in the kitchen????

Thanks for your advice

Like chickens, as far as pups are concerned when it is good and light it's time to get up.

This is the first real summer litter I have had (normally aim to have litters in teh winter for this very reason, as less likely to annoy the neighbours) and the little darlings have had me up as early as four.  They aren't hungry, though Mum does give them a little eraly morning comfort. as she just doesn't seem inclined to refuse them.

They have a mad dash around for half an hour, and then go back to sleep, but by then they have the other dogs all up.

Pup will gradually get used to sleeping a little later once they ahve full bladder contril around five months.

Just make the morning session not that interesting, gie them a chew or comething, and perhaps keep the older one crated or take one of them to your rom in their crate.

Have to agree, dogs are diurnal and if it is light then it is time to get up, you will have to train them to wait for you, but that will take time and may not happen until you have been thorough the winter. Cure, go to bed earlier.
