Just got back from a fun dog show with my dogs got out the car and the neighbour was walking up the road Tess went walking up to him tail wagging and he hit her strait round the nose
who can i report this to my parents said theres not much we can do but im not letting him get away with hitting my dog i dont hit them so no one else is going to

Id say unfortunately no one as it would be your word against your neighbours
although I would be inclined to let him know I had saw him doing it

Without independent witnesses there is nothing you can do I'm afraid. Sadly not all people like being approached by a dog, no matter how friendly the dog is. Just make sure your dogs don't approach this unpleasant person again.

Suggest keeping your dog under control in future is the answer.

I do admit it is partly my fault she'd just got out the car and i wasnt properly watching her

I wouldn't be very happy if anyone smacked any of my lot, it could affect them for life!!:(

Unfortunately, I think it is entirely your fault :( Sorry ...and I don't want you to feel as though I am having a go at you, I am not..but it is a lesson learned I think :) You are responsible for keeping your dog under control at all times. Not everyone is dog friendly and some people have a phobia about them. Everyone should ask if they can approach you dog before they do...and likewise, you should ask if it is okay before allowing your dog to approach someone

Sorry but I agree with Melodysk. Why was your dog not on the lead when it came out of the car?  It could have been run over; remember a lot of people are afraid of dogs; you can report away but before you do, I think you will find that the Dog Warden, the RSPCA and the police will all tell you the same thing.

There is a simple method of preventing others harming your dog........... keeping it under control and not allowing it to get near enough!

If you expect people to respect your dogs you must extend the same to them.

I agree with mel too. A little while ago a chap down here panicked when a perfectly friendly, tail wagging lab approached him......in his panic he ran away, fell over the cliffs & was killed :O
Imagine if the person who hit your dog had reported it/you to the police for having an out of control dog which caused him fear....one way ticket I am afraid!!! :(
