No - at least there should'nt be !. Maybe you are thinking of a German Spitz they can come in the same colours as Chows.

At the moment there seems to be craze in America for 'Miniature ' or 'Toy' versions of standard breeds. Whats wrong with an 'ordinary' Chow ?

Is it possible that you've seen a Shiba Inu ?  They might look a little llike a small short coated Chow Chow ;)
