My 5 year old leonberger has had a limp, for about 4 months. X-rays had ruled out cancer. but she is still limping.exercise seems to help. when I massage her down her back and on her shoulders she gets lots of muscles twitches. I only do this gentley. does anyone have any idea on what could be the problem.or could someone recommend some sort theraphy that could help.

Hello hooch,

My 2yr old labrador often has a spell of limping, which so far has cleared up on its own, but nevertheless its still very worrying. The strange thing is that she also has the twitches when I massage or even touch her back. I'm wondering if you have any further info on this please. I hope your dog is improving and the limping has stopped.  (I did post regarding the twitching in another thread but it was more than a year old (found that one and yours through a search for twitching).

Lots of luck and hope your dog is well now,
Best wishes,
Val

She had acupuncture(sp) and she has been fine since,The put the needle in the part that had the twitch and her whole back really twitched for about 3 mins.she walked out with no limp. so It may be worth checking your dogs back it may not be its leg at all. Also give the acupuncture ago,you may be able to claim on insurance I did! hope this helps

I will report back after trying this for Poppy.
