Can someone offer some advise on how to get dogs to sleep in their own beds at night and not jump up onto mine!! This has been going on for a few weeks and bth dogs won't leave us alone. They insist on getting on the bed and lying againts me. Think I'm beginning to suffer sleep deprivation as I end up balanced on the edge! Help please.

To add to it one of them tiddled on it last night. Don't know when or who so can't do much about it now!!  :-<

We did try to keep them downstairs but after nights of listening to her bark for nearly an hour we had to call it a day. As we live in a semi we can't just leave her to it unless we don't want to talk to the neighbours anymore!!

Have you tried sleeping downstairs with her till she's used to it? Sounds daft, but it works.

Well I'm willing to try it after all the new sofas are quite comfy! Will wait til the weekend though incase they keep me up so at least I won't need to get up early!! Thanks

Shut them in the kitchen - it works for me :D - now, if I could only sort the cat out, I'd be laughing .............

Put up a stairgate and keep them downstairs. Works for me!

A kennel down the end of the garden seems to do the trick in this house!

Stairgate for us , as well :) Except for when one of the children (inc. hubby) forgets to count how many dogs are in the kitchen before they come up to bed :)

A different house works for me :) No.... really, I leave Willis on the sofa and Phoebe goes in her crate - no problems :)

Have you room to put up a cage in your bedroom? you could put them in, then at least they will be able to see you, this might work and once they got used to the cage you could move it.

I could use it as an excuse to get more streamlined furniture. Seriously though it does sound like a good alternative to waking up to soggy bedding! Thanks

Our older pup is now 7 months and she has only came upstairs the last 3 nights and prefers to sleep under my bed, the younger pup isnt allowed upstairs yet anyway slightly different but when we first got Buffy she would try and get on the sofa we just kept telling her no and putting her back down on the floor, it took about a week and now she doesnt even try to get up.
Might work the same with your bed, just keep putting them down.

never had the problem.  The boys were crate trained with the crate in our bedroom at night.  They have never been allowed up on the bed so dont seem to know any different.  They now just have a quilt on the floor that they curl up on.  Now that they are a little older they have worked out that they are allowed up for a cuddle at the weekends.  The older one sits at the bottom of the bed as soon as we have woken up wining to come up but doesnt do it during the week when we go to work.  We can only assume that he realises that there is no alarm going off because he does it when we are on holiday as well.
