Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Wanted Puppy (Gold Bitch)
- By Guest [gb] Date 04.07.04 22:16 UTC
Hi,

we are desperately looking for anyone who is planning to have a litter to put us down on their list.  We would love a Gold Bitch, so please bear us in mind.

Many thanks
Mrs & Mr Christie

What breed are you thinking of, the term Gold is not used in many so perhaps you will join and let us know the breed. Someone asked yesterday for a black puppy and there must be black puppies in hundered of breeds where as at the moment I can't think of one that is discribed as Gold except of course the Golden but then that is what you would have said as they don't come any other colour.

Golden Retriever? Golden Cocker?

Oh did not think of cockers, all ways think of them as red which I should not I suppose. :)

Afghans come in Gold too.  :)

Do know that the Afghan standard says 'all colours accepted' but I have never seen a solid gold, have you?

I don't really come across many just the immediate relatives of my girl and they are gold with black masks, does that not count then? I'm sure there must be some without black points that are all gold.  Mine is a black masked cream.

Ive seen a few "self masked" golds (all gold rather than black masked) I must admit the black masked is more common though :)

I believe that black masks are less common in the U.S.  I much prefer the masked look though.

I think it depends on the colour, self masked golds tend to look old before their time the same with blues/brindles/reds (although I have never seen a masked one of any of these I dont think) I had a self masked cream and a self masked black/chocolate and they looked lovely (maybe thats me just being biased though ;)  )

When I think about it I have probable seen all golds but because the longer hair is lighter they do not appear as a solid colour.
