Did anyone else experience the horrendous traffic jam coming through Datchet for Windsor on Friday ?. It took us over 1 1/2 hours to get from Datchet to the showground and as my hubby was judging we were really worried about being late. As it was some exhibitors missed their classes -  I do think that the Kennel club should seriously consider buying their own easily accesible venues where most of the shows could be held. I know that this would mean that we'd all probably be travelling to the Midlands for most of the shows but at least the location and facilities would be better suited to our hobby. What do others think ?

But this area is normally horrendous with commuter traffic in the weekdays.
Also going on in the same 'area' geographically is the Henley Royal Regatta
so there's extra traffic for that too (runs from weds or thurs thru to the sunday).

You'll probably find that traffic was heavy for the show too, and the cars coming from
Windsor town centre come straight into the dog show car park, whereas cars from the
other side have to wait until there's a gap or some kind person allows them in from the
opposite side of the road.

If I'm showing the dog, I always allow plenty of time to get to the showground.
I'm normally up and on the road really early considering I don't live too far away
from the venue (25-30 miles). But that's because I know the area and the 'traffic jams'
that can happen. I'm normally in one of the first rows of the members car park....
(Yes I'm a bone fide member of this society, I like being parked near the show and not
back in town :D ;)  )

There has often been talk of having regional showsites specifically for dog shows,
whether anything will ever come of it, who knows.
But I do believe if this happens they should have regional sites, not only based in the
midlands but in other parts of the country too.
