I have a young Staffy bitch and I considering breeding from her around her third or fourth season. She is white and red pied, her mother is black brindle and her father is pied brindle. I am wondering what coloured pups I should expect if she is mated with certain coloured studs i.e. red, black brindle, brindle or pied. I look forward to receiving advice
hi there guest
firstly why don't you register to champdogs?
now about your puppy,-i personally think that your staffy would not be mature enough at her 3rd-4th season! maybe you should wait until her 5th or 6th season and then if she matures well you could then think about breeding.
i don't mean to sound in anyway shape or form nasty when i say ( how much do you know about staffies or breeding?).
what colour pied brindle is the father?
was you puppy natural born?.
i own 4 staffs and would certainly never consider putting a black/black brindle stud dog to a red+white bitch!! have a read into the history of staffordshire bull terrier/the standard.
there's so much one needs to know about them.
has i have already said i am not having a pop at you, but simply trying to help!
there's plenty of people on here who have done the same as you, brought a bitch puppy, waited until their norm( 3rd/4th season) and breed from her only to have an enourmous vet bill or even worse losing their bitch and or puppies.
kind regards mark

your first concerns should be the suitability of your bitch for breeding not colours. Is she a good speciman of the breed??Has she had any health tests done?
You then need to be researching her pedigree and finding a suitable mate for with compatible lines. You also need to be honest with yourself and decide which of her faults (off which all dogs have) are the ones which need to be addressed and to find a stud who is exceptional in these areas to try and improve upon them.
Are you prepared for the huge cost of raising a litter...can run into thousands! Are you prepared to take back any unwanted pups when the become destructive/won't house train etc?
Lastly I would suggest you take a trip to a rescue centre...preferably a staffy one and see all those little faces.Just think someone exactly like you thought their lovely bitch should have a litter and rehomed all the pups intp 'loving' homes....and this is where they end up.Is this what you really want to add to?
