Sorry to hear you havent been well Terri, will the blood test give you a firm diagnosis? If its any help, once a label is attached to what ails you, you can get an idea of how to treat/manage it. Hope you get good news. (())

Sorry you've not been well Terri - it's awful isn't it, when you have never been unwell and then suddenly you are!! Please stop worrying though - if your doctor thought you were in any danger of a stroke, he would be prescribing medication now!   However, you could always start yourself on 1 aspirin per day (provided you've not suffered from stomach ulcers) as a precautionary measure - aspirin thins the blood and is now a recognised first aid treatment (by paramedics) for anyone suspected of suffering from a heart attack/stroke before reaching hospital.  It is also suggested for people undertaking long-haul air flights.

Your doctor will have the results in 10 days or so - in the meantime, try not to worry!!

Thinking of you

Hi, sorry to hear you're not well. Have you tried ringing NHS Direct for info? They will point you in the right direction and set your mind at rest. I would imagine the blood tests are urea and electrolytes, liver function tests, full blood count, cholesterol and maybe thyroid function. These will check your general health and the cholesterol levels may suggest you need to make dietry changes if they are high. I notice that someone suggests you try asprin - but be aware that it's normally a 75mg dose prescribed not the one you buy over the counter (300mg I think). If you're still worried make an appointment to see your doctor earlier, he shouldn't have a problem with that. You could also check out your suspected problem online - just type it into the search engine.
Hope this helps and you don't think I'm interfering! :)
Take care

Hiya Terri. Just wanted to say keep positive and I hope the tests go Ok for you. Also, your description matches that of the condition my former neighbour experienced and the worse case scenario is that a 'stent' (sp?) ie. a little plastic tube was fitted in the artery to keep it open, therefore enabling greater blood flow. It was amazing, she was back home and digging up her garden with vigour in no time!....really put me to shame...she still dashes about like a blue a***d fly now and says its the best thing that could have happened for her. Its all very easy to say, but please try not to worry too much and let us know how you get on.
Take Care
