would depend on the company and what they provide, if it was say finance then it would be managing projects concerned with that company usually working within another "customer" company, and consulting with that company to come up with solutions.

why not give them a call or email to find out exactly what the job entails, she doesnt have to admit she hasnt a clue what it is just what the role profile says :)

It can mean different things in various contexts; basically project management can be done in house where you pick several people to be on a team to work on something novel, development, new business etc or get specialists (consultants) in who look at the whole thing of identifying your needs, budget, timeframe and objectives and aim to deliver your requirements within these parameters.

Hiya
Project Management is "the planning of: progress, resources, activities and scheduling" of any given thing you can think of !
Although its been around for years, its extremely vogue at the moment
One of the methodologies of practicing PM is 'Prince'. I have attached the link so that your daughter can be armed with possible training opportunities they may discuss at interview. The 'Prince' technique is highly thought of in both the public and private sector as a tool to deliver PM

Project Management is essentially a tool. Whether a person executing it or a software system under the control on a PM.   It really shouldn't matter what the project is, the principle is the same.  Resourcing, budgeting, lead times, it is basically getting the project from the start to the end in the best , most profitable and efficient way.  It has been around for a long long time.
