a show lead? I have asked at the vets, pet shops and pet supply shop and everyone says Crufts, not really alot of good to us as we want to start showing Abby this year.

Any show really...most shows have trade stands with show leads.  And have you a ringcraft, as they be able to lend you one untill you find on.  You could also find plenty on the internet!!!

Hi Mary,

I take it from previous posts she's a Dobermann?  What leads and collars are they normally shown on? - a check chain and leather lead perhaps?

A show lead would normally be thinner than a normal day lead, rolled leather ones look nice - perhaps 8mm rolled? - but obviously sufficiently thick to control and hold your dog securely.

Brass or chrome probably doesn't make much difference on a Dobe, although on pale breeds brass can turn the neck green.  Brass clip if you have a brass collar, etc.

That's my two penn'orth, hopefully somebody more up on showing Dobes will be along shortly if I need putting right :D

i have seen dobe bitches wearing really thin leads in the ring they looked really nice
cannot  talk from personal experience as our dobe bitch starr cracked her jaw at 8 months while in kennels so we never got to show her real pity because she was so beautiful
