Please can anyone help we bought a nice pink leather collar for my girl, and totally forgot when she went for a swim, now she has lovely PINK designer fur alround her neck and cant get it out, does anyone know of anything i could use.  Cant complain to pet shop cos i went back and on reverse of tag it said (may run, not suitable for light coloured dogs)

Ooops, all I can suggest is that ol' chesnut, bicarbonate of soda, when diluted, may remove the nice 'pink' colour..........of course someone else may have a better suggestion.

Good Luck

Hmm.  I think that you should get a bleaching shampoo (they do have them, usually for white dogs but you can use it anyway) and then never put that collar on her again.  I believe that Rogz for Dogz does pink collars, and I can personally vouch for Rogz as my Penny wears one and she is very hard on collars.  And the color hasn't faded yet, I just wash it in soapy water and then rinse well, and it's like new again. :)

Look here http://www.rogz.co.za, look in products.

Was the pink leather collar from Pets at Home?  Only I looked at that one and if so, I'll know not to bother with it! ;-)

Sorry - I'm hopeless at getting out stains, but just to say - never swim your dog with a collar on - they can get their feet caught in it and possibly drown.

This reminds me when I was showing my Dalmatian.

One year at Southern Counties show we were standing outside the ring with him wearing a red soft leather collar.  The heavens opened and we ran for cover, as were were standing in the tent I looked down and his neck was turning pink.

It was so embarrassing, I was very new to showing then and so proud of my sparkling white Dalmatian.  It was a quick dash to the car and home before anyone saw him.

If I remember correctly I think it was just loads of shampooing that shifted it.  I did take it back to the shop as there was no warning on it and I had to fight to get a refund on it.

If you look at http://www.accoladeleathercraft.com they do white leather collars which I now use with a white ruff dog for everyday use if she is likely to get wet.

When I worked in a pet shop we had some collars called "timberwolf" (I wont give you the manufacturers name ;) ) they came in a red/burgendy colour and stacks of people brought them back because their dogs got pink dyed necks  , we always gave a refund and removed the entire stock from our shelves :)

Hi, you could try repeated latherings with plain old Fairly liquid(original, not one of the new ones) it works wonders on removing stains from the furnishings on parti coloured spaniels, put it on neat, rub in, leave 10 minutes, then rinse, lather and rinse out completely,  conditioner will be required to stop coat and skin drying out.  Dont think the whiteneing shampoos will help, as they tned to work with blueing agents, so may end up lilac rather than pink.

bye
