Hiya i just got mine from www.caninechemists.com it cost 16.59 for the actual lamp and 7.99 for the infra red bulb plus 3.95 postage and was delivered next day, excellent value and service.

I agree with Jestony.  (Same place, same good service).

My local animal feed stockist also sell them for a similar price (bulbs slightly less).

In a domestic situation I prefer a heat pad to a lamp.  Canine chemist so them also.  But I have a breed that are not heat lovers, even the pups don't like it much past a week, and Mums definately don't.  The pad gives low background heat under the beddding, and can be placed in the midle of the whelping box so that Mum when lying sone is likely to lie around the outsdie of it and pups will be lying on it when feeding.

After teh first few days I move it into the corner that bitch uses least and then pups will moive to it when she leaves the box if they feel the need.

I have more problem with keeping pups coll with my last two litters having been born suring warm spells.  I found pups would get very unsettled after feeding and found it was because after exerting themselves feding they were too hot, even had to put bottles of cold water in the bed to make things cooler.

I've always used heat lamps, but recently purchased a heat pad from Petcetera. It's the best thing i've ever done, the heat pad is much more efficient than the lamp as the pups can move away from the pad if they got too warm, wish i had bought this years ago. I place the heat pad in an old pillowcase, then vet bed on top, it stays just at the right temperature 24 hrs a day.
