Our poor old Falcon Jo got hit by a car Saturday, he's in a sorry state poor guy.

He stayed with a specialist vet from Saturday through to Monday and is now home.

He is very badly bruised all down his right side and bleeding behind his right eye, which is not good, if it continues he could become blind.

We have to administer eye drops and tablets 4 times a day.  Have you ever tried giving tablets to a bird ???  He cottoned on quite quick that there was something in his food and stopped eating !!.  There's hubby with him wrapped in a towel saying that hole at the back of his throat is his wind pipe, don't stick it in there, oh god I say, I'm going to choke the poor chap.

Sorry to winge guys but I had to tell someone, I get so worked up about having to deal with him, I think it's because he is so small, but by golly does his beak hurt when he gets hold !!.

If only it were possible to get them to understand that we're trying to help! The lack of communication can be so very frustrating. Hope he gets on the mend soon.

Thank you to all of you, yes Jo did pass away in the night.  We rushed him back to the vet yesterday evening but they could not save him.

I know he was a bird, but I loved him just as much as any other animal we own.

At least now he is out of pain and hopefully at peace, we are the ones left with the pain.

Sorry to hear about Jo. Nothing is as marvelous as the love between falconers and their birds, after all the birds choose to return to the glove instead of flying away and this bond is only made through dedication. I trust hes flying higher than ever now.
