hi all
i have a very nice sister in Law and she has just told me that she has her name down with a breeder for a Shar Pei bitch pup, the bitch is already in season (well his 3 bitches are) and my SIL has done no research on the breed at all and i thought i better try to help her before she regrets it.

i don't know a lot about Shar Pei so i thought i would ask on here.  she only wants 1 as her cousin has one (he did not find out about the breed either and now his mother looks after the dog most of the time) and the fact that they are so cute as pup's (i also think i can see ££ sign's in her eyes as she wants a bitch and her cousin has a dog)

i don't know what type of breeder she is going to but he has 3 bitches in season and is breeding them all (to the same stud that he also owns)

the main reason i want help is she has never owned a dog before, she has a very nice house and don't like it when she looks after her mother's dogs (toy Yorkie and poodle cross) as they make a mess and don't listen (that has now stopped she want have then any more).  and this is my biggest worry, she thinks that my dogs are big (Stafford's) and when they play she gets freighted  when i had my last litter she wanted a pup but i said nope and she could not see why

so can some 1 please help me with some good info on them so i can open her eyes

thought i should add i like the breed and have nothing aganst it but i think its the wrong breed for her

If you email   linda@bellicoseuk.fsnet.co.uk   I'm sure that she'll answer all of your questions about the breed and be honest about all of their problems.

Staffie Lover,
From your account this sounds like the wrong person buying the wrong breed from the wrong breeder for the wrong reasons!

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!

Hope you manage to put her off. Well done for trying! ;-)

I agree.  Linda will give the ammunition that she needs!!

But then, of course, there are others that will say if she wants a bitch and breed, then why shouldn't she? :(

Yes Linda no longer posts on this forum but is well worth contacting as she will be only too happy to help.

hi all

My SIL becided against having a Shar pei after showing her a few sites but i never got it thought to her about looking into a breed before buying a dog as she has just got a 8 week old boxer dog.  so i asked if the perants have had health hest and she said the mother looks good (that was it)  so please can some 1 let me know what tess a boxer needs.

Oh my god!!  She was frightened when she saw your staffies playing and then she goes and gets a boxer??!?!?!  Big Bouncing Ball of Boisterous Barminess is how I would describe my Boxer!!

Heart problems is common - Glazby has a minor heart murmur.

hi Charanda

well i was shocked that she was looking in to big dogs to start with,  and i would agree with you boxers can be a little hard to handle but she will soon learn that and i will be there to help.  i am quite lucky as i used to stay with mu ungle very summer and he had boxers so i know how they can be
