I wonder if anyone could help me, I have a 3 and a half year old Deerhound who today has started with  itchy ears. He keeps shaking his head and occasionally scratching. I've had a good check and there appears to be nothing visable that could be irritating them, theres no inflammation or redness. Hes had his flea stuff and doesn't seem to be in any pain. Wonder if anyone has had the same problem with their dog or might know what is causing this. I will however take him to the vet if it persists in the morning?

You need to see your vet with ear problems so that they dont escalate -
it could be any number of things - there could be something in there ( grass seed etc) that you cannot see,
it could be ear mites or it can also be a sign of food allergy.
Your vet will have the correct instruments to be able to look deep into the ear and see if theres anything lodged there but you shouldnt leave ear infections
