I was at the Dundee show last week and witnessed possibly the worst case of double handling I've ever seen and the judge didn't even bother - here's me thinking it was against KC rules!!
Anyway, was watching the GSD's (there was 6 in the ring) and I counted no less than 5 of the handlers with someone outside the ring making either noises or waving their arms around to attract the attention of the dog. There was one girl that was racing back and forward round the edge of the ring shouting the dog's name - blatant was not the word!! The judge just ignored them then slapped the back of the "winning dog's" owner and mentioned the pub!! (I think it was one of the ones with the extra person at the side). Nothing was said to either the handlers or those outside the ring. It made showing an absolute joke. Why bother if you're not best buddies with the judge (not the first time I've seen judges having a good chinwag with a person, only to see them award first to them in the ring!). OK, fair enough there may be some people you get to know in the dog showing world but if you are showing your dog in a class where you personally know the judge, please don't make it so obvious to us amateurs who are starting out in the show world. Just smacks of cheating!!
