Hi thought I would share my worry, my 8 month old bichon fudge is going for an eyelid entropion operation on both eyes tomorrow & I am worried to death. I wondered if anyone elses baby has had to have this done & if so how was it? I have another 13month old bichon Molly, her & I will be so sad tomorrow without our fudge, I an dreading handing her over to the vet & walking away.

Molly has had legg-calve-perthes disease & had to have both balls from her hips removed, one when she was 6mths old & the left hip done 6 weeks ago & I know how I felt leaving her. Roll on tomorrow night when I can pick Fudge up.
Pauline.

My goodness you have been unfortunate to have twwo puppies that have such ill health. Sure everything will be ok and lets hope if you have another pup it will not have to go near a vet except to have its jabs.

Hope you dogs OK, never had one have this operation so I'm no help at all to you.

Just noticed that you only live down the motorway from me as I'm in Wythenshawe.  Fingers crossed for your puppy and how's Molly doing?

Hi Perrodeagua
I, thanks for your reply. I live in Davenport. Molly isnt doing to bad, she has quite bad weakness in her back legs at present, the specialist said let her run, rough & tumble with fudge as much as she wants so she will strengthen her hips, she is so tiny next to fudge but seems to manage ok, just gets a bit cross if you pick her up & catch her legs, hoping time will improve things. What dog have you got?

whilst not exactly answering your question, my mother had this op a few weeks ago and shes 91! So if she can manage it at her age. . . . . :)

Best wishes, John

Hi,
i had a puppy have this operation many years ago, she was fine. All they do is tighten the eye lid, once home you'd never know from the way my puppy acted she had even had an op! It is not major operation unlike Mollys would have been.

Hi Pauline,we had a cocker bitch who had one eyelid done some years ago, it made a huge difference to her,the eye was constantly weeping and she tried all the time to rub it, poor girl I am sure the condition must be so painful, imagine somthing constantly rubbing against your eye. I am sure your little bichon will be so much better. It is  fairly minor op so don't worry  :-)

Hi Diane
Well took fudge the vet decided as her eyes looked a little better today he would delay surgery until he had tried ointment for 2 weeks, he also gave me antihistarmenes (spelt wrong I think) they are to give her just before any long grass/field walks so we can eliminate any other causes. I felt reassured that at least we were looking at other possible causes, he was very reassuring & said it was worth checking out first. Boy was I glad to be taking her home. They nearly ate each other with excitement when I got back. So watch this space.
Molly is due back to the specialist in 2 weeks for a check up following her latest surgery.
