My old dog is about 12 or 13 yrs old and has a catalogue of problems which are all monitored by the vet, these include tumors in the liver, gall bladder a large tumor on his side, catarracs, arthritis in his hips and now he has some small lumps which look like warts but they are smooth and some are about the size of grapes. When you touch them the tend to bleed a bit, just like a pin prick, but they dont seem to be bothering him at all.Should I take him to the vet or leave well alone and monitor them to see if any more appear.

Hi Jw, :-) think if the warts bleed you should have the vet look at them. My 13yo has lots of black nobbly warts that look like currents and tiny pink ones which the vet diagnosed as 'old dog warts' Your poor old chap has a lot of problems from the sound of it. :-(
Thanx, he has defied the odds, all this was diagnosed 16 months ago and the vet didn't think he would have much longer but he is still with us and has a fairly good quality of life eg; eating, trying to play(hips permitting),eating, sleeping etc. These warts(?)are pink and bigger than the average wart (which he has got). Its when I brush him that I noticed them bleeding, not all the time though. He is due to go back to the vet for his check up and repeat tablets but I just wanted a bit of reassurance from others for now.

Julie (another Derbyshire girl I see :-) )My girls warts never bleed, you may be able to get the vet to freeze off the ones on your old boy bless him. It is so sad when they get old isn't it, they know when you love them and are trying to help and can still appreciate cuddles. Hope he is ok :-)
