I have a 10 week old Weimaraner puppy who is becoming increasingly insistent on biting hands, arms, legs, feet etc when playing.  He starts off playing nice and soft but he gets over excited and starts to bite very hard which has caused some pain and discomfort to myself and my partner over the last week.  We have tried tapping his nose, ignoring him, putting him in the kitchen for 5 mins to calm down, giving him plenty of toys and chews etc but he still continues to bite.  When he calms down he is such a lovely boy and plays very well but its those mad times in between which can last about an hour that is causing me concern.  I am concerned that he will grow up to believe that it is the norm to bite peoples hands etc and that by the time he is 6 - 12 months old he will still be doing it.  Can anyone help in advising if this is just the stage of being a puppy and that he will, with encouragement and persistence from us, eventually learn that he should not be doing this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, puppy biting is perfectly normal, but they need to be taught bite inhibition.

For expert help with this and any other problems why not go to the Weimaraner Forum where you will find many experienced owners and first class advice with how to tackle this problem.
