A guinea-pig with Hip Dysplasia?

OK, don't normally get into these, but aren't we talking about someone with a much loved pet here who has just been told they have a painful problem ......... ?  Surely helpful advice would be more appropriate.

We all know exactly what kind of dog she's talking about, please give people a break occasionally :D

Sorry, but I genuinely thought she was referring to a guinea-pig (properly called the 'Domestic Cavy').

I presume you mean a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel which I have(CAVY-Short-tailed rough-haired South American rodent  !).What is your dogs hip score ? Vets do tend to make a big thing of HD & in very large breeds it can cause problems, but in smaller breeds it causes less problems because the dog has less weight to carry. I presume your vet has a good knowledge of X rays & HD-not many do. I use a different vet for X raying as good as my vets are they do not have the knowledge my X ray specializt has,

Depending on how severe the HD is there are several courses of action that you & your vet can take, hip replacement, fremoral head removal etc

I have a twelve year old BC with severe HD(scored 34:34=68 the highest score a dog can have is 106 )He has never had any problem walking exercising & is still very sound with no arthritis. He has had no medication at all & no operations either-he has never had any veterinary treatment at all for his HD. He is exercised free & never road walked & fed a natural high quality diet. I ensure he s never over weight. He is never lame I had him X rayed as I was planning on doing agility with him & I have all my dogs HD sxored at 12 months

The only things I have not done with him is agility & breeding
