showdog.com the game where you breed and show dogs i am thinking of subscribing but first i said i would see what other people think of it . i have already got a basic kennel but i want to upgrade .

I play, i have a standard kennel full of PBGV, and im in the process of upgrading a new basic kennel to standard, with otterhounds.

I started out playing a very competitive breed, and didnt like it much... so i moved to a much rarer breed, pbgv, and found the other players much more friendly adn helpful.

The bonus's of playing a rarer breed are that when you do breed a good dog, you have the chance to improve the breed for a long time to come, (conversely you could over breed from that dog and cause the breed problems trying to add new blood).

I enjoy it a lot, but its only as good as the work you put in..... to breed well and win well you DO need to pay attention to the judge preferences, handler preferences (each judge has different ideas about what dog is the best, there are spreadsheets available free, from other players, that will tell you which judge likes your dog best.... with handlers, there is a page on the showdog site that tells you which judge prefers which handler adn that can have an effect, more so in the group judging than in breed judging, certainly in the rarer breeds anyway).

Ill help you whatever breed you have, but i know more about the hound breeds, specially PBGV or Otterhounds.

The benefits of upgrading are huge, you have access to their chat room, access to the members forum, you can breed your dogs, put dogs up to stud, feed custom rations and change your salary/session settings.

It is a lot harder to play as a basic user, as you only have a certain amount of sessions (five i think) and the biggest thing is you dont have the custom feeds, meaning its very very hard to get a dogs condition stats up to 20.... without them being at 20 you wont win much in shows at all. Also, because a large number of basic users are kids who get bored, a lot of premi/standard users are less willing to sell good dogs to basics, as they then find that the dogs have been forever homed, (ie out of the game) or just abandoned quite quickly.
