NOw I was browsing though one of the Teens message boreds that I'm a member of and someone wrote about what she got for her birthday...Guess what...an Australian shepherd dog...now I don't know the full story but she saw one on Crufts (on TV) and said she wanted one...3 months later she gets one for her birthday...NOw I may be wrong and she may have done 3 months of solid research with her mum and has got one from a good breeder...But I'm worried she had never seen an aussie in the flesh before....It's proberly nothing but It just made me mad...I'm hoping to find out more...

Sorry for this moan...needed to get it out....

Hello Ice Queen

Know how you feel, one of my friends is buying a Siberian Husky (very cheap) from her neighbour who has just had a litter, he owns both the sire and dam.  Only the sire is KC registered and neither of the dogs have any eye/hip checks done.
She wants it for her son, have tried to advise her gave her breed club contacts etc, but she said her son wouldn't be swayed.

Regards
Joan

If the son is young, the fact that she is giving way to him does not bode well for the control of the dog that will, as we all know, require a good deal of training and control most of which beyond a youngster and even beyond a first time dog owner.

Hello Jackie

The son is about 20 ish, and engaged.  Mum and Dad are busy people and no way fit for such a dog.  Did ask what would happen to the dog if son gets married and moves away, told not to worry the neighbour will walk it with his, and they are going to have a kennel and run built.

Regards
Joan

They do understand that if it is on it's own in a kennel it will no doubt howl it's head off.

Oh yeah they know cause they have the mum and dad living in the next garden and hear them howling.
We can only let people know the pro's and con's, they at the end of the day make there own decisions and are sometimes right and sometimes wrong. Just like us. (We would love to be right all the time, but then wer'e only human) lol

Regards
Joan
