Hi

I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and have booked to go to Bournemouth, Windsor ands East of England shows. What I'm unsure of is realistically how late can I show.  I don't want to waste money entering shows which I'm not going to be able to make, but as you have to enter about 2 months in advance then I don't know how I will feel by show day.

I show chinese cresteds so they aren't heavy to pick up so I don't imagine putting them on the table will be a problem. Moving around the ring fast enough might be a problem and getting them ready as i have to lean over the bath.

Also how soon did you start showing again afterwards.

Thanks in anticipation.

Obviously depends on how you feel, but I showed my dog on my due date (son was born 5 days late), I was feeling fine and was still very fit and able to trot around the ring.  I went to my first post baby show approx a month after he was born, but I obviously took along someone to help with the baby!

Good luck with your baby, is it your first??

It is not that unusual to see handlers peering over the lump to check how their dogs are stacked, so if you feel OK then go. May be policy to take a driver with you just in case you do not feel able to drive home ;)

Hi

I was showing my dogs on my due date and deliverd my daughter at 6.30pm that day, luckily the show was close to home, labour didn't start until i was home!  But the tiredness can be a problem especially if the show is a long drive.
It really depends on how you feel

Good luck and hpe all goes well :-)

I agree the tiredness for driving was my biggest down fall, but i was still going around a ring at my due date on my first baby, but on the second was told by the docs, stay close to home near your due date as i deliver quick and i did do as they said.

I've had friends handle close to when being due and they where fine...some of them did take friends/hubbys to groom dogs and maybe run them if they couldn't manage!!!!!  Can you go with someone who can drive you and help you with dogs and maybe run the dogs if you need them to???

Hi Everyone

thanks for replying. That's made me feel much better, especially as I don't normally drive as my partner comes with me to drive and push the trolley etc.

Looks like I won't need too much time off the circuit.

Thanks again.
