I don't know if my question should be here or in general....but here goes,

I have a GSD puppy (10 Months) yesterday I noticed that he has a black spot on his tounge, about the size of the top of a pencil.  I don't know if it has just appeared or how long it has been there?  Think I only noticed because of the hot weather ( he was panting quite heavily hasn't got the sense to lie in the shade yet - lol)

My question is, does anyone know what this might be? Is it normal? Should I take him to the vets and have it checked? etc, etc...

I don't really want to go running to the vets to be told it is a birth mark or something stupid like that - lol

This is my first dog and we do tend to treat him like a baby and worry over the silliest things, please help!!!

Regards Kay and Roman x

Please don't go to the vets it's quite normal for GSDs to have black pigment on their tongues, at least all mine have(have all been direct from german bloodlines-so don't know about UK lines)

I had my first one in 1958 from Mrs Barrington(Brittas) in Ireland & everyone has had the pigmentation some more than others

Thanks Moonmaiden x
have put my mind at rest, very glad I posted on here before making a complete fool of myself.  He is my baby and I hate to think that anything is wrong or could be, he is such an adorable strapping great lad but a big softie at heart (think that is how we have made him)

Thanks Again
