Hi there, wondering if anyone might be able to advise?
Alfie (10 months) had diarrhoea last night and all day today - frequent and liquid. He's also very windy. More lethargic than usual and a bit clingy. I can't get to the vet until the morning, but in the meantime, should I not feed him tonight, or is that just what you do when they're being sick? He wolfed his breakfast down as usual this morning and he's been drinking usual amount, if not more, which is good. He's had no treats that are any different to the usual ones. Hate seeing him poorly. Thanks for your help.
I wouldn`t feed him till you see the vet tomorrow, seeings he had his breakfast it`ll only be 24hrs without food :) Let him have his water tho & you could add some honey to it, but don`t let him drink gallons. If he gets worse & or you start seeing blood or starts to dehydrate I`d take him the vets tonight.
Christine, Spain.

Animals, including us, would normally starve themselves to give their innards a rest. As long as your dog is drinking normally then there is no need to worry.
I would not feed him until after I had seen the vet, at the very most I would allow a small tub of live yoghurt.
Hi all
My 6 month old lab has come down with the exact same symptoms as the dog in the first post.
I haven't given her anything to eat since breakfast. I am now starting to really worry, i am going to take her to vet as soon as they open tomorrow and in the mean time i am going to stay down stairs with her tonight.
I was just wondering tho, does anyone think that this could be to do with the hot weather? My husband seems to think that it probably is but i am more of a worrier than him and i'm thinking the worst.
Thanks for any advice.
Debbie
My rottie Troy had these symptoms for two days and is now fine i starved him for 24hrs and were on the mend apparantly there is a bug going round so my vet said anyway?

Dozer my boston get the runs pretty bad do to the hot weather. I usually give a lil bit of keopectate and he's fine, he eats and drinks just fine too. I never starved him my vet always prefered a little bit of food thro out the day then a full feeding, but he only picks at his food when it is hot out anyhow.
Do hope your dog is feeling better :)
